Toke Makinwa Defends Women Who Expect Men to Pay Their Bills
Media personality Toke Makinwa has advised women not to compromise their standards when choosing a partner, stating that there is nothing wrong with expecting a man to cover their expenses.
Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, Toke Moments, she urged women to ignore societal pressure and seek partners who align with their expectations.
“You don’t need to lower your standards. There are over a billion people in this world. You can find somebody who has what you are looking for. Stop letting society dictate for you,” Makinwa said.
Addressing critics who label women as “money-hungry” for seeking financially supportive partners, she added:
“If you say, ‘Oh, this girl just wants a man to pay her bills,’ and you can’t afford it, leave. There is another guy who is looking for exactly that.”
She also criticized online debates over relationship expectations, suggesting that people should focus on finding partners who meet their needs instead of attacking those with different preferences.
Makinwa’s remarks have sparked conversations on social media, with some supporting her stance while others argue that financial independence should be a priority for both men and women.
