Jermaine Dupri Recounts DMX’s Unique Robbery Incident Involving His Dog

Jermaine Dupri, the celebrated music producer and artist, recently shared a remarkable anecdote about the late rapper DMX involving an unconventional robbery with the assistance of his faithful dog.

Dupri detailed the incident during a studio session for the song “Get Your Shit Right,” a collaboration between DMX and Dupri for the 1998 album “Life in 1942.” In a video posted on his Instagram page, Dupri described the incident as “one of the craziest nights ever.”

The episode unfolded when Dupri was heading to the New York studio for a DMX session and had invited an interviewer from The Source magazine to document the recording process. However, things took an unexpected turn.

According to Dupri, the journalist arrived at the studio before DMX and was present when the rapper’s two dogs were also in the studio. As DMX arrived, he initiated a conversation with the reporter, eventually instructing him to hand over his belongings.

Rather than using firearms or conventional means, DMX employed his dog as an intimidating presence. He essentially compelled the reporter to comply by having his dog nearby.

Dupri recounted the incident, saying, “DMX basically robbed the reporter with his dog. No guns, just his dog. DMX came in and started questioning the reporter and told him to run his shit, take off whatever he had on.”

Reflecting on the unusual encounter, Dupri stated, “I tell these 30th-anniversary stories — I got a lot of crazy stories. A lot of shit I can’t tell, but this one I feel like I have to tell. R.I.P. my man, DMX.”

Fabolous, another rapper, commented on Dupri’s post, acknowledging that anyone who had spent time around DMX likely had their own wild DMX stories, underscoring the legendary rapper’s unpredictable nature.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that stories have emerged about DMX engaging in such dog-assisted activities. In a 2019 interview with Power 106, Jadakiss shared a similar account of DMX using his dog, Boomer, for unconventional purposes, suggesting that it was not a singular occurrence.

While DMX was known for these unconventional and sometimes confrontational encounters, he also had a transformative influence on the music industry and his genre, making him a beloved figure in the world of Hip Hop.
