Ali Baba Urges Women to Let Their Partners Quit Jobs If They Earn More
Veteran Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has voiced his opinion on relationships where women earn more than their male partners, suggesting that men who feel insecure about such situations should be the ones to quit their jobs, rather than pressuring their wives to resign.
Reacting to a viral story of a man who forced his wife to leave her job because she earned more, Ali Baba questioned the logic behind such decisions. He pointed out that men whose self-worth is tied to their financial standing often feel threatened when their partners become more successful.
In a post shared on his Instagram page, the comedian expressed his frustration, calling out the flawed mindset. “Who are these women falling for such lies? If you earn more than your man, let him quit his job. Nonsense!” he said.
Ali Baba added, “If you’re earning N10 million a month and your husband is earning N1.5 million, how does it make sense to resign? That means the man’s confidence is financially anchored. Insecurities my foot.”
He further used the example of Oprah Winfrey, wondering if her long-time partner, Stedman Graham, would ever ask her to resign simply because she earns more. Ali Baba’s post emphasized the need for men to be inspired by their partners’ success rather than intimidated, and to work towards improving their own financial status.
