Joeboy Dismisses Criticism, Says His Music Is Not “Mid”
Nigerian singer Joeboy, whose real name is Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, has addressed critics who have labelled his music as “mid.”
The artist has faced backlash on social media, with some users downplaying the quality of his work. In a recent episode of the Backstage Banter podcast, Joeboy responded assertively, dismissing the negative comments and questioning the motivations behind such criticisms.
“There is nothing ‘mid’ about my existence,” he declared. “The fact that I have been able to get so far at such a young age in my career and still have my head on my shoulders is not ‘mid’ in any way.”
Joeboy also suggested that many of his critics are projecting their personal unhappiness. “I feel like the people criticizing me are generally not happy with life. Because if you’re genuinely happy with your life, you would not pick up your phone and start attacking somebody,” he added.
He further questioned the overuse of the term “mid,” describing it as a buzzword that has lost its meaning. “What exactly is ‘mid’? I think it was just a word that got too popular, and people just started using it,” he said.
The singer’s remarks have sparked conversations among fans, with many showing their support for his confidence and artistry.
