John Cena Opens Up About His Greatest Fear: Parenthood
American actor and professional wrestler John Cena has revealed that his biggest fear is the possibility of never being ready to become a “great parent.” In a candid interview with Club Shay Shay, the 47-year-old star expressed his concerns about the significant time and commitment required to raise children, something he feels he may never be prepared for.
“My biggest fear is I don’t think I’m personally ready, nor will I ever be, to invest the time it takes to be a great parent,” Cena admitted. “I still have a lot to do, and I still want to do a lot. I have a wonderful partner, and we’ve had open conversations about this. We share the same values.”
Cena also touched on the sensitivity of the topic, noting how discussions about parenthood can lead to judgment. “It’s a tough subject to talk about because it immediately puts you in a category. People tend to judge. Human nature, we are all judgmental. But I operate under the construct that everyone is okay living their lives,” he explained. “I’m very happy with where I stand. I’ve found a lot of joy and fulfilment in my life.”
Cena has been married twice. He wed Elizabeth Huberdeau on July 11, 2009, but filed for divorce in May 2012, which was finalized in July of that year. In October 2020, Cena married Shay Shariatzadeh, his girlfriend since early 2019, in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida. Neither marriage has resulted in children.
