Johnny Drille Says Fatherhood Deepened His Gratitude for His Parents

Nigerian singer-songwriter Johnny Drille has shared how becoming a father has profoundly transformed his perspective on family and deepened his appreciation for his own parents.

Speaking in a recent interview with Dose of Society, the Mavin Records artist opened up about the life-altering experience of welcoming his daughter, Amaris Esohe Ighodaro, born in November 2023 with his wife, Rima Tahini.

According to the soulful singer, fatherhood has reshaped his values and priorities – with family now taking center stage.

“One rule I live by is family first,” Drille said. “I would drop anything I’m doing, anywhere in the world, if my family needed me. They’ve always been my support system.”

Reflecting on his childhood, the singer recalled moments when his parents shielded him and his siblings from hardship, often sacrificing their own comfort to provide joy and stability.

“There were tough times growing up. Sometimes, we had no food. But my parents always found a way to make things work – and even made it feel fun for us as kids,” he said. “Now that I have a child, I understand the kind of love and effort it takes to raise someone. I see what my parents did for us with new eyes.”

Drille went on to express his desire to give back to his parents and help them experience the world they once sacrificed so much for.

“My biggest dream is to take care of them and give them the kind of life they gave up so I could have mine,” he added.

Drille’s reflections on fatherhood come just months after he and his wife shared the news of their daughter’s arrival, marking a new chapter in both his personal life and artistic journey.
