As 2023 officially comes to a close, Jordan Brand has revealed a spectacular project to celebrate its connection with the WNBA. The latest creation, the Air Jordan 4 “First Class,” showcases the brand’s commitment to exclusivity and luxury for its WNBA athletes.
Colour designer Kelsey Amy of Jordan Brand unveiled the extraordinary sneaker, dominated by various shades of green. The opulence is evident in the gilded accents throughout the upper, elevating the sneaker’s elegance. From the rubber outsole to the sting-ray textured mudguard and tongue label, the natural hue is complemented by lavish accessories.
The standout features include solid gold Jumpman logos on both the tongue and heel, likely plated and featuring a small diamond gem replacing the basketball in the iconic Jumpman silhouette. Positioned above textured leather commonly found in high-end Italian-made leather goods, these logos add a touch of luxury to the Air Jordan 4.
Adding a narrative to the design, the double-sided hangtag mimics a standard baggage tag. Infused with the iconic elephant print, it pays homage to PDX, the international airport in Portland, Oregon. On the reverse side, the WNBA logo takes centre stage above the year 2023, encapsulating the essence of the “First Class” concept.
While the Air Jordan 4 “First Class” is undoubtedly a breathtaking creation by Jordan Brand, some in the sneaker community have drawn comparisons to a custom design by @chefhuyle that gained traction on social media earlier this year.
