Kanye West Reveals He Was ‘2 Months From Going Bankrupt’ After Adidas Termination

Kanye West, amidst facing consequences for his controversial remarks, has revealed the financial hardship he endured following the termination of his partnership with Adidas.

The rapper, known for his polarizing statements, parted ways with Adidas in October 2022, shortly after his contentious “Death Con” comments sparked outrage.

In an interview with TMZ on Monday (February 12), West disclosed the severity of his financial situation during that period, stating, “I’m gonna be honest with y’all: I was two months from going bankrupt, really… And we survived. We survived through the cancellation.”

While West didn’t directly mention Adidas in his remarks, he hinted at issues with past footwear collaborations, particularly regarding pricing disagreements with “different companies.”

Adidas projected a significant loss of approximately $246 million in net income for 2022 following its split with West.

Addressing the backlash to his past comments, including praising Hitler and spreading conspiracy theories about Jewish people, West emphasized his right to express opinions while acknowledging the consequences endured, such as job loss and career setbacks.

Reflecting on his controversial tweet in 2022, where he mentioned going “death con 3” on Jewish people, West stated, “I even sent the apology and [Adidas] still f*ck with me. Some of the stuff I was saying was true.”

He further asserted that Black people cannot be antisemitic, expressing remorse to Jewish fans who were exposed to heated conversations but affirming the necessity of addressing important issues.
