Kendrick Lamar Surpasses 2Pac’s Streaming Record with “Not Like Us”

Kendrick Lamar’s hit single “Not Like Us” has reportedly surpassed a significant streaming milestone, overtaking 2Pac’s iconic diss track “Hit ‘Em Up” by nearly six million streams. According to a post shared by Our Generation Music on August 11, the song has accumulated over 647 million streams, making it the most-streamed diss track, a record previously held by 2Pac.

The platform from which this data was collected was not specified, and HipHopDX has not independently verified the claim. However, the achievement marks another highlight in Kendrick Lamar’s highly successful year.

“Hit ‘Em Up,” released in 1996, was 2Pac’s fiery response to The Notorious B.I.G. and other East Coast artists, and it topped HipHopDX’s list of the 100 Greatest Diss Songs in Hip Hop History. Ironically, Kendrick’s “Not Like Us” — a diss aimed at Drake — came in at No. 3 on the same list.

Earlier this month, “Not Like Us” was also recognized as the best-selling song of 2024 in the U.S., further solidifying Kendrick’s dominance in the music industry this year. Produced by Mustard, the track has topped the Billboard Hot 100 twice, initially upon release and again following the debut of its much-anticipated music video.

In addition to surpassing 2Pac’s record, “Not Like Us” has broken several streaming records previously held by Drake, including the largest single-day streams for a rap song on U.S. Spotify and becoming the fastest rap song to reach 500 million streams on the platform.
