LG Launches Mosquito Repellent Air Conditioner in Nigeria
LG Electronics has introduced a groundbreaking air conditioning system to the Nigerian market, unveiling the Dual Inverter Air Conditioner with its innovative Mosquito Away feature. This marks a significant step in air conditioning technology by combining efficient cooling with mosquito repellence.
The Mosquito Away feature leverages ultrasonic wave technology to emit sound frequencies undetectable to humans but highly effective at repelling mosquitoes. Tested and validated by the Institute for Advanced Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT) at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, the system boasts a 92% mosquito repulsion rate and an 88% knockdown rate, making it a powerful tool in combating mosquito-borne diseases indoors.
At the product launch, Mr. Olugbenga Ogunbayo, Master Trainer at LG Electronics, highlighted the innovation’s impact.
“The ‘Mosquito Away’ AC by LG is the first of its kind in Nigeria. This cutting-edge technology ensures enhanced comfort and safety, addressing the critical need to protect households from mosquito-related health risks.”
In addition to its mosquito-repelling capability, the air conditioner incorporates LG’s Dual Inverter Compressor™, known for delivering fast, quiet, and energy-efficient cooling. This technology uses up to 70% less energy than traditional air conditioners. Features like Volt Care, which ensures uninterrupted operation during voltage fluctuations, further enhance its suitability for Nigeria’s unstable power grid.
Mr. Mohammed Fouani, Managing Director of Fouani Nigeria Ltd, emphasized LG’s commitment to improving the quality of life for Nigerian households.
“The Mosquito Away AC is a testament to LG’s dedication to addressing local challenges while promoting well-being. This innovation represents a step forward in creating healthier, safer, and more comfortable living environments.”
With this launch, LG continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in consumer-focused technology solutions tailored to local needs.
