Lil Wayne Reveals His Favourite JAY-Z Verse

Renowned rapper Lil Wayne has once again showcased his admiration for JAY-Z, disclosing his favourite verse by the rap icon during an appearance on YG’s new 4HUNNID Podcast.

Participating in a segment called “Keep It 4HUNNID,” Lil Wayne engaged in various questions, including his preference between JAY-Z and The Notorious B.I.G., to which he unequivocally expressed his allegiance to “Hov,” emphasizing that “Hov still here.”

Prompted further about his favourite JAY-Z verse, Lil Wayne wasted no time in citing a verse from the song “Lucky Me” from JAY-Z’s album “In My Lifetime, Vol. 1.” This choice of verse holds significance for Lil Wayne, who previously paid homage to JAY-Z’s lyrics from “Lucky Me” in their collaborative track “Mr. Carter” from the album “Tha Carter III.”

Reflecting on his affinity for JAY-Z’s work, Lil Wayne highlighted the impact of JAY-Z’s 1997 album on him, revealing that he has lyrics from the record tattooed on his body. In a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, Lil Wayne expressed his profound connection with the album, emphasizing JAY-Z’s lyrical prowess and the resonance it had during a pivotal time in his life.

During his appearance on YG’s podcast, Lil Wayne also addressed the potential for a Hot Boys reunion tour, shedding light on the complexities involved, particularly concerning the members’ individual situations. Despite the logistical challenges, Lil Wayne affirmed the group’s readiness for a reunion, pending the ability of all members, including B.G., who recently returned home, to participate.
