Madrid Linked With Move for Alphonso Davies
Real Madrid is reportedly closely monitoring the situation of Bayern Munich’s talented wing-back, Alphonso Davies, whose contract with the Bundesliga champions is set to expire in 2025. Negotiations regarding a new contract for Davies have hit a roadblock, creating uncertainty about his future at Bayern.
The impasse in contract talks is attributed to recent administrative changes within the club. The departure of former director Hasan Salihamidzic at the end of the 2022-23 season disrupted discussions, but Bayern is now eager to reopen negotiations with Davies. The club is determined to secure a contract extension for the Canadian international, who has become a key figure at the Allianz Arena.
Aware of Real Madrid’s interest in him, Davies faces a pivotal decision about his future. Bayern Munich may be compelled to consider selling the 22-year-old next summer to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2025. To this end, Bayern’s coach, Thomas Tuchel, already has a potential replacement for Davies in the squad in the form of Raphaël Guerreiro.
