Marrying My Best Friend Biggest Mistake of My Life – Stella Damasus

In a candid conversation with popular media personality Teju Babyface, veteran Nollywood actress Stella Damasus revealed that she believes religion played a significant role in what she considers the “biggest mistake” of her life. Damasus opened up about a past marriage that lasted only eight months and explained that she was pressured by a church, where she served as a choir member, to marry her best friend who happened to be the choir director.

While acknowledging that her ex-husband was an amazing person and an excellent friend, Damasus emphasized that as a couple, they realized they were not meant to be married. She expressed regret for allowing religious pressure to influence their decision, as they were better suited as friends rather than spouses.

Damasus shared that after parting ways, they decided to maintain mutual respect and not discuss the failed marriage openly. Despite their romantic relationship not working out, they wanted to preserve their friendship and still exchange greetings and check on each other from time to time.

The actress’ candid revelation sheds light on the complexities of relationships and the impact of external influences, such as religion, on personal decisions. Damasus’ willingness to share her experience highlights the importance of self-awareness and understanding when it comes to matters of the heart.

“It lasted eight months. Biggest mistake of my life because the guy was an amazing guy. But he was my friend, my best friend. And religion is what caused that problem that made us marry when we were not supposed to be married. We were supposed to be very good friends because as my friend, he was awesome. But as a married couple, we didn’t work. We just m*ssed it up. And we knew it.

“So when we went our separate ways, we were like out of love and respect for each other, let’s just leave it. We don’t talk about it, we just leave it so that at least we can still say, hello, are you okay? How are you?”
