‘X’ Removed After Being Installed Atop Company Headquarters Following Twitter’s Rebrand

The San Francisco Department of Building Inspection officials made an observation on Monday morning regarding the removal of the new “X” sign on top of the building previously known as Twitter’s headquarters.

The department’s spokesman, Patrick Hannan, reported that the sign was being dismantled.

This development comes in response to the company being served a notice of violation (NOV) on Friday for carrying out the installation of the new flashing sign without obtaining the necessary permit for the building.

Over the weekend, the Department of Building Inspection and City Planning received 24 complaints concerning the unpermitted structure. The complaints raised concerns about the structure’s safety and its illumination. In response to the complaints and safety considerations, building inspectors observed the structure being taken down.

To address the situation, the property owner will be held responsible for the unpermitted installation of the illuminated structure and will be subject to various fees. These fees will include building permits for both the installation and removal of the structure. Additionally, the fees will cover the cost of the investigations conducted by the Department of Building Inspection and the Planning Department. While a building permit is required for the removal of the structure, it will be secured after the dismantling process due to safety concerns.
