In a groundbreaking move, Megan Thee Stallion has solidified a new distribution agreement with Warner Music Group (WMG), marking a significant step in her career while maintaining her independent status.
As reported by Billboard on Tuesday (December 12), the Houston Hottie’s collaboration with Warner Music Group represents a distinctive approach to music distribution. Unlike conventional record deals, this arrangement enables Megan to retain ownership of her music while leveraging the extensive infrastructure and global reach of WMG.
Apart from benefiting from the global impact of WMG, Megan’s team will include personnel from 300 Entertainment, with whom she had collaborated in her previous deal.
The recent deal follows the resolution of Megan Thee Stallion’s legal dispute with her former label, 1501 Certified Entertainment. In late October, both parties announced a confidential settlement, officially freeing Megan from what she had previously described as an “unconscionable” deal.
The terms of the settlement remain undisclosed, paving the way for Megan’s newfound independence. In a revelation on Instagram Live a week before the Billboard report, the 28-year-old artist shared her excitement about embarking on a fully independent journey for the first time.
With no current label affiliation, Megan expressed her autonomy, stating, “I have no label right now, we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket. The next shit y’all about to see about to be all straight from Megan Thee Stallion, Megan Thee Stallion brain, Megan Thee Stallion wallet.”
Elaborating on her decision to remain independent, Megan emphasized her desire to handle her projects autonomously, reflecting a return to her early days when it was just her and her mother navigating the industry.
