Monster Energy Drink Backing Powerboat P1 And Race World Offshore

From almost 50-foot-long Class 1 offshore racing catamarans to AquaX series personal watercraft roughly one-fifth of that size, the range of raceboats involved in events either produced or promoted by Powerboat P1 is broad. The United Kingdom-based outfit’s involvement in the sport also includes co-promoting/producing the multi-class, five-race American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series with Race World Offshore of Key West, Fla.

Now those competition categories will have something else in common other than Powerboat P1 as Monster Energy has become the Official Energy Drink of all Powerboat P1 race circuits.

“Motorsports are a major part of what Monster Energy is all about and we support racers and motor-racing the world over,” said Dave Gowland, Monster Energy’s vice president of motorsports, in a Powerboat P1 press release issued this morning. “After forming an alliance with the Monster Energy M CON offshore racing team in the Class 1 championship, we are now absolutely enthused to announce the relationship between Powerboat P1 and Monster Energy for the 2023 race season.”

“As part of the new, multi-year relationship, Monster Energy will be known as the Official Energy Drink of the APBA Offshore National Championship Series, the Union Internationale Motonautique Class 1 World Championship and the P1 AquaX National Championship,” he added.

Monster Energy also will be the Official Energy Drink of the 2023 Race World Offshore-produced, APBA/UIM Offshore World Championships, November 5-12, in Key West, Fla. In 2022, Monster Energy and the new Class 1 M CON team announced their partnership for the 2023 season in a joint press Thursday evening conference made possible—with the closure of Greene Street in downtown Key West—by Race World Offshore head Larry Bleil.

Said Dave Gowland of Monster Energy (captured here during the 2022 Speed On The Water Key West Bash), “Motorsports are a major part of what Monster Energy is all about and we support racers and motor-racing the world over.”

“I am excited to have Monster Energy not just as a sponsor of the APBA series, which we are co-promoting and producing with Powerboat P1, but as the Official Energy Drink of the Race World Offshore APBA/UIM Key West World Championships,” Bleil said. “It’s a perfect fit.”

Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1, negotiated the sponsorship deal with Monster Energy.

“Monster Energy invests in an array of international sports and properties, and their decision to sponsor our range of marine motorsports is a testament to the growth of our business over the last 20 years, with strategic partnerships and television coverage playing key roles,” said Azam Rangoonwala, the chief executive officer of Powerboat P1, in the release. “They pride themselves on being ‘all-action’ and love racing, power and larger-than-life opportunities. Our high-energy lifestyle events will provide the brand with a platform to get in front of people and interact with fans.”

But no one is more excited about Monster Energy’s expansion into the sport than Miller, whose Class 1 raceboat will carry the brand’s livery this season.

“We are ecstatic to hear the news that the venture is coming to fruition between P1 and Monster Energy for 2023,” Miller said. “Monster Energy and P1 have been amazing to work with The level and notoriety that the partnership will bring offshore racing in its entirety will be off the charts for everyone involved. The 2023 season is setting up to be epic in so many ways.”

Miller paused. “We’re ready to ‘unleash the beast,’” he added, borrowing from the Monster Energy drink slogan.
