PSG Refuses €55 Million Payment to Mbappé, Prepares for Court Battle

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is holding firm in its decision not to pay €55 million to former player Kylian Mbappé, despite losing an appeal on the matter. On Friday, the French football league’s appeals commission ruled in favor of Mbappé, directing PSG to settle the sum, but the club has signaled its intent to challenge the ruling in court.

According to a PSG spokesperson, the club “has decided to take the case to the appropriate courts while continuing to try to find an amicable solution with the player.” PSG maintains that Mbappé forfeited the payment when he agreed to rejoin the first-team squad last season. However, Mbappé, now with Real Madrid, insists on receiving the full amount and has reportedly rejected mediation offers from his former club.

The spokesperson expressed the club’s frustration over Mbappé’s position, stating, “The player has made clear and repeated public and private commitments that the club is simply asking him to honour and respect.” PSG stressed that they are committed to resolving the dispute but warned that, if necessary, they would seek a legal ruling to affirm the club’s stance.

The case has added tension as Mbappé prepares to face Barcelona in the iconic El Clásico match with Real Madrid this weekend. The outcome of the court proceedings remains uncertain, with PSG asserting that the matter is one of “good faith, honesty, and respect for the institution of Paris and its supporters.”
