MrBeast and Amazon Sued Over Alleged Harassment on Reality Show
MrBeast’s production company and Amazon are facing a proposed class-action lawsuit filed by five contestants who participated in the reality show “Beast Games.” The lawsuit alleges that the contestants were subjected to unsafe working conditions, denied pay, and faced a culture of misogyny and sexism.
The 54-page document details allegations of unreasonable and unsafe conditions that led to several contestants being hospitalized. The plaintiffs claim they were underfed, lacked adequate hygiene products and medical care, and were subjected to sexual harassment.
The lawsuit also alleges that the show obtained an illegal contract and provided false information to Nevada to secure tax credits. As a result, the show received $2.5 million in incentives from the state to film in Las Vegas.
Last month, The New York Times reported on similar allegations of dangerous conditions from unnamed contestants on the show. They described witnessing vomiting, people passing out, and several hospitalizations.
MrBeast and Amazon have not yet responded to the lawsuit. While MrBeast’s spokesperson previously acknowledged the challenges faced during the production, the allegations of harassment and unsafe conditions raise serious concerns about the treatment of contestants on the show.
“Beast Games,” which is yet to be released, is touted as the largest game show in history with the most contestants and the biggest cash prize. MrBeast, a popular YouTuber with 245 million subscribers, has gained attention for his unique philanthropic endeavors.
This lawsuit adds to the growing scrutiny surrounding reality television shows and the treatment of contestants. It highlights the importance of ensuring safe and fair working conditions for all participants.
