MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Ordered to Pay $2.3 Million in Defamation Suit

Mike Lindell, the founder and CEO of MyPillow and a well-known supporter of former President Donald Trump, has been ordered by a Denver jury to pay $2.3 million to Eric Coomer, a former security and product strategy director at Dominion Voting Systems.

Coomer sued Lindell, along with MyPillow, Inc. and Lindell TV, over false claims made by Lindell that Coomer was involved in rigging the 2020 U.S. presidential election, which Joe Biden won. Throughout the two-week trial, Lindell maintained his unproven allegations that the election was stolen.

In his lawsuit, Coomer described the severe impact of Lindell’s accusations, stating that he has endured ongoing death threats and the stress of being falsely portrayed as part of a vast criminal conspiracy.

Coomer’s attorney, Charles Cain, said the verdict offers some justice for those unfairly targeted for their roles in election processes, and hopes it will discourage future attacks on election workers.

While Lindell expressed disappointment with the verdict, he praised the jury’s decision not to hold Lindell TV liable and called the outcome a “huge victory for our country.” He also announced plans to appeal and revealed he is facing financial difficulties.

Lindell’s promotion of election fraud theories led many major retailers to stop selling his products in 2021. Recently, he has used his legal challenges to market his pillows, offering discounts tied to his court battles and soliciting donations for his legal defense.

This lawsuit is part of a wider legal campaign by Dominion Voting Systems against several Trump allies accused of spreading misinformation about the company’s voting machines. Separately, Dominion reached a $787.5 million settlement with Fox News over similar false claims.
