Nigeria to Host AFRIMA 2025 as Award Submissions Open in May
Nigeria has been officially named the host country for the 2025 edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), with Lagos set to welcome artists, industry players, and music lovers from across the continent and beyond.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the international committee of AFRIMA during a press briefing at the AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
This year’s event, themed “Unstoppable Africa,” will take place in Lagos from November 25 to 30, 2025.
Angela Martins, Director for Social Development, Culture and Sport at the AUC, praised Lagos as a fitting host city, citing its proven track record in managing large-scale global events.
“Lagos brings together the ideal combination of modern infrastructure, strong media coverage, efficient transport systems, and a vibrant hospitality sector,” Martins noted.
The submission portal for award entries will open on May 27 and close on August 8, 2025.
AFRIMA 2025 is expected to showcase more than 1,600 nominees and engage over 2,300 production crew members. Organisers also project that more than 60,000 visitors and delegates will attend the six-day celebration of African music and culture.
Globally, the event will reach an estimated audience of over 400 million viewers through live broadcasts across 109 TV stations in 84 countries.
