Nigerian Singer, Bright Chimezie Joins Sony Music Record after Meeting Davido
Nigerian highlife legend Bright Chimezie has officially joined Sony Music Publishing West Africa, just two weeks after his high-profile meeting with Afrobeat superstar Davido.
Sony Music announced the signing over the weekend via posts on its verified Instagram account, welcoming Chimezie as a new addition to their family. The label described him as “legendary and extraordinary,” highlighting his role as the creator of the distinctive Zigma sound.
The collaboration follows Davido’s public recognition that Chimezie’s music inspired his hit single “With You,” featuring Omah Lay. The meeting between the two artists took place in May.
This signing also comes shortly after Davido’s former protégé, Mayorkun, revealed that Davido played a significant role in helping him secure his own deal with Sony Music, underscoring Davido’s growing influence within the industry and the label.
