Nollywood Actor Browny Igboegwu Criticizes Colleagues for Hypocrisy
Nollywood actor Browny Igboegwu has voiced his frustration with what he describes as widespread hypocrisy within the Nigerian film industry. In a direct message posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday, Igboegwu criticized his colleagues for displaying what he called “fake love,” highlighting a pattern of insincerity and backstabbing among some in Nollywood.
The actor expressed dismay over the tendency for some individuals to speak negatively about their peers, only to later publicly celebrate or congratulate those same individuals. “Let’s take it easy with fake love in this our Nollywood. One minute you’re saying despicable things about your colleague, and the next minute, you’re posting and celebrating the same person,” he wrote, calling the behaviour “broad daylight witchcraft.”
Igboegwu cautioned that he would be keeping his distance from any colleagues who engage in such actions, making it clear that he values authenticity. He urged his colleagues to be genuine in their interactions, emphasizing, “Say no to fake love; it is worse than poison. If you can’t say something good about someone, please shut up.”
Igboegwu’s post sheds light on the ongoing issues of rivalry and insincerity that some actors face within Nollywood, sparking conversation among fans and fellow actors about the importance of integrity in the entertainment industry.
