Offset’s ‘Set It Off’ Album Debuts at No. 5 on Billboard 200
Offset’s highly-anticipated album “Set It Off” made an impressive debut on the Billboard 200 chart, landing at No. 5. The album, released on October 13, accumulated 70,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, according to Billboard.
The rapper’s wife, Cardi B, expressed her pride and support for her husband’s achievement on X (formerly known as Twitter). In her post, she celebrated Offset’s resilience in facing challenges, which included leaving his label, starting anew, staying focused, and maintaining determination despite obstacles. Cardi’s message not only highlighted Offset’s accomplishments but also hinted at her own music career.
Cardi concluded her post with the words “MY TURN,” suggesting that her own upcoming album is on the horizon. Just last month, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper announced that her sophomore album is in the works and will be released “very soon,” though it won’t be coming out this year.
Offset himself also took a moment to reflect on the success of “Set It Off.” In a message shared shortly after the news of the album’s Billboard 200 placement, he thanked everyone who supported the project. He acknowledged the challenges he faced while working on the album, alluding to the tragic murder of his Migos groupmate, TakeOff, in late 2022, which understandably delayed the album’s release. The project was initially scheduled for November.
Offset opened up about the delay during an interview with The Breakfast Club, explaining that the loss of his brother was a significant factor. He also wanted to ensure that the album was well-crafted and meaningful, especially as he transitioned from being a part of Migos to establishing his solo career. His dedication to perfecting his craft and aligning all elements contributed to the album’s eventual release and success on the Billboard 200 chart.
