Patience Ozokwor Reflects on Life Before Fame: ‘I Used to Dress Dead Bodies’
Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, fondly known as Mama G, recently opened up about the challenges she faced before achieving stardom.
Speaking during the pre-premiere dinner for Funke Akindele’s movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, the celebrated actress shared that she took on various jobs to provide for her family, including working in a morgue.
“Funke Akindele is a very strong woman. I love strong women. I am a strong woman,” Ozokwor stated, praising Akindele for her resilience and work ethic. “I went through thick and thin to become who I am today. I used to go to the morgue to dress dead bodies so my children could go to school and have food to eat. I did many things to make my family what they are today.”
Ozokwor reflected on the recognition she has earned from her community despite the hardships. “In my own place, they appreciate me a lot because they saw me through all these things,” she said.
Drawing parallels between herself and Akindele, she added, “When I see Funke, I look at myself. She’s a replica of who I am.”
