Peter Okoye Confirms P-Square Split, Cites Struggles to Stay Together

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has spoken candidly about the end of his music partnership with his twin brother, Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), officially marking another chapter in the story of P-Square’s on-again, off-again journey.

In a recent interview with Cool FM Lagos, Mr P acknowledged that while fans may have hoped for the duo to remain united, going solo has brought him a renewed sense of fulfillment. “There’s a joy that comes with going solo. Please respect our decisions. We’ve tried it, it’s not working,” he said.

The pair, who enjoyed massive success across Africa and beyond as P-Square, first parted ways in 2016 before reuniting in 2021. However, in August 2023, Paul confirmed that the duo had once again gone their separate ways.

Despite the breakup, both artists have continued to pursue successful individual careers. Mr P’s remarks now affirm that the decision was mutual and rooted in creative differences that proved difficult to resolve.
