Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound Reveal New Album Originating from Family Tragedy

Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound are gearing up for a new album release, a project that almost didn’t happen if it weren’t for a personal tragedy that brought them back together.

During an appearance on DJ Hed and Chuck Dizzle’s Home Grown Radio podcast, Snoop Dogg disclosed that he and Daz Dillinger had drifted apart. However, the passing of Snoop’s brother Bing Worthington earlier this year prompted a reconciliation between the two artists.

“My little brother had passed away, and one thing about my little brother is he loved the fuck outta Daz. He loved us together,” Snoop revealed.

The loss of Snoop’s brother served as a catalyst for healing, prompting a conversation between Snoop and Daz that reignited their collaboration, leading to the forthcoming album.

Last month, Tha Dogg Pound addressed rumours of their split in a song titled “Smoke Up,” accompanied by a music video featuring prominent figures in Hip Hop expressing dismay over the rumours.

In the video, Snoop Dogg dismisses the hearsay with conviction, stating, “Fuck what you heard,” before affirming their unity with the bars: “Somebody said the Dogg Pound broke up/ Shut yo bitch ass up, n-gga, now smoke up.”

Following the release, Daz Dillinger announced on social media that “Smoke Up” is part of a larger project, teasing a new album titled “W.A.W.G (We All We Got),” executive produced by Snoop Dogg, set to drop in June 2024 on Death Row Records.

Snoop Dogg’s acquisition of Death Row Records last year marked a surprising turn of events, with the iconic label’s catalogue returning to streaming platforms under his ownership. This move allowed fans to revisit classic ’90s rap releases from Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, and Tha Dogg Pound, among others.

With the forthcoming album, Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound continue to solidify their legacy in the rap industry while honouring the memory of Snoop’s late brother.
