Police Confirm Lil Smart’s Arrest Following Naira Marley’s Petition
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed the arrest of popular dancer Lil Smart, following a petition filed by singer Naira Marley.
The arrest comes nearly two weeks after Lil Smart’s sudden disappearance, which had sparked widespread speculation and concern.
Charges and Confession
In a statement released on Friday, police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that Lil Smart was taken into custody over allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and spreading falsehoods against Naira Marley.
“Following a filed petition, the Force secured the arrest of Idowu Smart Emmanuel (Lil Smart), who eventually admitted to his crimes and confessed that his allegations were false,” Adejobi stated.
A viral video circulating online shows Lil Smart being paraded by the police, where he expressed regret for making unfounded accusations against the singer.
Background of the Dispute
Lil Smart had previously claimed in a December 9, 2024, Instagram post that Naira Marley and Zinoleesky had threatened his life. He later filed a formal petition against the two artists with the police.
His sudden disappearance led Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop to call out Naira Marley, accusing him of secretly orchestrating Lil Smart’s arrest.
With the latest police confirmation, the case has taken a new turn, leaving many awaiting further developments.
