Portable Narrates How He Met His First Wife Bewaji

Popular Nigerian street musician, Portable has unveiled the intriguing love story that led him to his first wife, Bewaji Ewatomi. The artist, known for his controversial persona, recently took to the spotlight as a guest on the widely followed podcast, The Honest Bunch. During the podcast, he delved into the intricacies of his relationships and his views on polygamy.

Portable candidly confessed that his first wife, Bewaji Ewatomi, entered his life as a replacement for his initial spouse, whom he claimed had disappointed him. Reflecting on their journey, he revealed that Bewaji became an essential pillar of support during his hustling days, often sending him financial assistance. He painted a picture of her as a steadfast ally who stood by him even in the face of challenges. “That time when people said I was mad, she was the only one who said, ‘No, he’s not mad’,” he shared.

Their bond evolved, and he regarded her not just as a partner but as a daughter initially. According to Portable, Bewaji’s unswerving belief in him before he gained fame played a crucial role in their relationship, ultimately leading to their marriage. “She was the only one who believed in me when others didn’t,” he reminisced.

Despite his polygamous lifestyle, the artist offered advice to men, cautioning against marrying multiple women if they couldn’t adequately care for even one. While he refrained from disclosing the exact number of wives he currently has, Portable emphasized his adherence to Islamic customs, which permit multiple wives. He took pride in his ability to provide for his partners and took credit for shaping them into the strong individuals they are today.

Drawing a comparison between himself and a king, Portable defended his polygamous choices, citing the historical tradition of kings having multiple wives. He noted that a level of competition exists among his wives and baby mamas, with Bewaji holding a special place as his number one.

At present, Portable has amassed four baby mamas and is the father of five children, with his youngest child born to Ashabi Simple. The artist’s open discussion about his relationships has sparked conversations about love, polygamy, and the dynamics of modern relationships in Nigerian society.
