Premier League Releases Full Schedule For 2022-23 Season

The Premier League unveiled its complete fixture list for the 2022-23 season Thursday.

The campaign kicks off August 5, with a London derby between Crystal Palace and Arsenal at Selhurst Park.

Reigning champions Manchester City, looking for their fifth title in six seasons, begin the defense of their latest crown with a trip to West Ham United, while rivals Liverpool begin the year away to promoted side Fulham.

Meanwhile, new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will get his first taste of Premier League action when the Red Devils visit Brighton & Hove Albion, who hammered them 4-0 near the end of last season.

The always fascinating clashes between Pep Guardiola’s City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, expected to once again take center stage, are slated for mid-October at Anfield and the start of April at the Etihad Stadium.

Their first meeting comes on the back of midweek Champions League action, which will surely rile both managers; Klopp, in particular, will likely be unimpressed that the Reds’ three away matches following Champions League group games are against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur.

The schedule has been adjusted to accommodate this year’s World Cup, which begins in November. The last round of Premier League matches before players depart for Qatar is Nov. 12-13.

Following a reported request from the FA, no matches between the traditional “Big Six” clubs were scheduled on the weekend before the World Cup starts. With England set to open its World Cup campaign on Nov. 21 against Iran, manager Gareth Southgate was apparently concerned about the impact high-stress domestic games would have on his players with such a short turnaround.

The Premier League resumes with its traditional Boxing Day slate Dec. 26.

The season comes to a close May 28, when, as usual, all 10 matches will be played simultaneously. City travel to Brentford to close out the campaign, while Liverpool visit Southampton.
