Pusha T, Lola Brooke and Wyclef Jean Recruited to Promote TIAA’s ‘New Financial Future’

Popular artists Pusha T, Lola Brooke, and Wyclef Jean have joined forces with financial institution TIAA to release a new single, “Paper Right,” aimed at sparking conversations on retirement planning and the importance of building generational wealth.

The track, set to debut on streaming services this Friday, January 12, also features Capella Grey and Flau’jae. The collaboration is part of TIAA’s “Retire In Equality” initiative, highlighting the significance of early financial planning, especially within the Black community.

TIAA emphasizes the financial disparities, stating, “54% of Black Americans don’t have enough savings to retire.” The organization aims to raise awareness and reverse this trend, noting that 41% of young adults aged 24-35 aren’t maximizing employer-sponsored plans.

As part of the initiative, a portion of the proceeds from the song’s streams will be directed to First Generation Investors, a non-profit dedicated to teaching students about investment strategies.

Killer Mike, another artist committed to enhancing financial wealth in the Black community, made strides in this direction last year by acquiring banking platform Kinly and merging it with his digital banking platform, Greenwood.

Commenting on the acquisition, Ryan Glover, CEO, and co-founder of Greenwood, stated, “The acquisition of Kinly represents a massive milestone for Greenwood as we continue in our shared effort to elevate financial tools available for our community.”

This partnership grants over 300,000 Kinly users access to Greenwood’s fintech products. Donald Hawkins, founder and CEO of Kinly, will also join Greenwood’s executive management team as Vice President, focusing on financial service initiatives, consumer-driven innovation, economic empowerment, and local business initiatives within Atlanta.

Hawkins expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, “The needs of our communities are many, and I couldn’t be more excited to combine efforts with Greenwood to create lasting generational change.”
