Mary J. Blige Drops Visuals for “Gone Forever” Featuring Remy Ma and DJ Khaled
Mary J. Blige welcomed the new year with the release of the music video for “Gone Forever,” featuring Remy Ma and DJ Khaled, a track from her 2022 Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe) album. Launched on her birthday, January 11, the Eif Rivera-directed video follows the recent certification of the album’s gold status by the RIAA.
The visual showcases Mary, Remy, and their entourage hitting the club, accompanied by a hook that pays homage to JAY-Z’s 2001 hit, “Song Cry.” While DJ Khaled doesn’t make a physical appearance, his presence is felt through strategic overlays.
Good Morning Gorgeous, released just under two years ago, marked Mary J. Blige’s return to the music scene after almost five years. The deluxe edition followed shortly after, earning her six nominations at the 2023 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best R&B Album. She also delivered a memorable performance at the prestigious event.
Entering 2024, Mary was honoured as the ‘Woman of the Year’ by Glamour. Reflecting on her journey to success, she acknowledged the challenges she overcame, stating, “This is not an overnight success. Looking ahead, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul expressed a desire to portray Nina Simone in a biopic during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. She revealed her long-standing wish to play the legendary singer, pianist, composer, and activist, stating, “I always wanted to play Nina Simone because I wanna learn how to play the piano, and I love her songs. They’re very dark and moody, and I can always find a place for that.”
