Regina Chukwu Recalls Traumatic Robbery, Says Heeding Akin Lewis’ Plea Remains Her Biggest Regret

Nollywood actress Regina Chukwu has recounted a terrifying robbery incident that she says remains one of the most painful experiences of her career – and her biggest regret, she says, was agreeing to a request made by veteran actor Akin Lewis.

In a video shared on her YouTube channel, Chukwu opened up about a harrowing event that occurred about five years ago during a movie shoot. She revealed that she was persuaded by Akin Lewis and the film’s producer to stay overnight at a hotel after wrapping up a late-night shoot, even though she initially felt uncomfortable with the arrangement.

“We finished filming around 1:00 a.m., and I was supposed to spend just a day on that set,” she narrated. “The producer insisted I stay because Akin Lewis had to travel to Oyo State early the next morning. I agreed, out of respect for his age and reputation, but that decision turned out to be my greatest regret.”

According to the actress, she and Lewis were lodged at a hotel on Ayilara Street, which she described as being occupied mostly by sex workers. Alarmed by the environment, she said she expressed her concerns and tried to leave, but Lewis reportedly urged her to stay.

“Just as I was about to go to bed, some armed robbers broke into my room,” Chukwu recalled. “They abducted me and took me to another location, where they used my ATM card to withdraw all the money in my account.”

The actress did not disclose whether the robbers were ever caught, but she emphasized that the experience left a lasting emotional impact and taught her to trust her instincts over external pressure, regardless of who is involved.

Her revelation has since stirred conversation among fans, with many praising her for the courage to speak up about the dangers faced by actors behind the scenes.
