Segun Arinze and Emeka Ike Reconcile, Bury Years-Long Rift
Veteran Nollywood actors Segun Arinze and Emeka Ike have officially ended their long-standing feud, putting behind them a conflict that began over a decade ago during a leadership dispute within the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
The rift between the two screen legends dates back to 2009, when Emeka Ike contested the outcome of the AGN presidential election, which Arinze won. In 2010, Ike took the matter to court, seeking to have the election result overturned – a move that deepened the tension between them.
However, in a recent interview with QED.ng, Segun Arinze confirmed that their differences have been resolved and there is no lingering bad blood.
“Emeka Ike is a fine actor. We still talk and laugh about those things now,” Arinze shared. “The conflict ended naturally. It wasn’t really a personal quarrel – it was about the AGN leadership. That’s also why I eventually stepped away from the position.”
Reflecting on the importance of letting go of past disagreements, Arinze added, “What’s the point of holding on to grudges? We’re getting older. Life is too short for animosity. Emeka is my friend, and I’ve told him we should catch up over lunch or dinner when he’s around.”
The reconciliation between the two stars has been welcomed by fans and colleagues alike, many of whom see it as a positive sign of unity within the Nigerian film industry.
