Rema Sets New Billboard Record With Historic Album Run

Nigerian pop star Rema has made chart history after his debut album Rave & Roses became the longest-charting African project on the Billboard World Albums chart.

The album has now spent 170 weeks on the chart, surpassing the previous record of 164 weeks set by Made In Lagos from fellow Nigerian superstar Wizkid. The milestone further cements Rave & Roses as one of the most commercially enduring African albums globally.

African Albums Continue To Show Staying Power

Rema’s achievement places him at the top of a growing list of African artists with long-running Billboard success. Other notable projects on the World Albums chart include Born In The Wild by Tems, which has logged 79 weeks, and Love, Damini by Burna Boy, with 63 weeks.

Also appearing among the longest-charting African releases is The Best Of The Black President by Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, which spent 45 weeks on the chart.

Hot 100 Momentum For Rema And Tems

Beyond album success, Rema also notched another major Billboard milestone this week. His collaboration Secondhand with Don Toliver debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rema’s second appearance on the singles chart.

Tems also made a fresh entry on the Hot 100 with her new track What You Need, bringing her total number of Hot 100 entries to seven. That figure ties her with Burna Boy and South African rock group Seether for the most Hot 100 appearances by African acts.

Together, the latest chart achievements underscore the continued global rise of African music, with Nigerian artists in particular maintaining a strong and consistent presence across major international charts.
