Rihanna Teases GloRilla with Hypocritical DM

In a surprising and humorous turn, global superstar Rihanna slid into GloRilla’s Instagram DMs with a playful question that left fans amused. Despite fans eagerly awaiting Rihanna’s own follow-up to her 2016 album ANTI, the singer asked GloRilla for an album update.

Rihanna’s message read: “You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical but when the album drop?”

GloRilla, the rising star from Memphis, shared the message in a recap of her visit to the 2024 BET Awards but kept her response to the “Umbrella” singer private. The interaction sparked a wave of reactions from fans, with one commenting: “Ri asking for an album is diabolical asf,” and another suggesting: “Rihanna play too much! Tell her to jump on the album!!!”

Rihanna’s admiration for GloRilla isn’t new. She recently posted a video of herself dancing to GloRilla’s hit single “TGIF.” In the clip, Rihanna energetically lip-synced to the catchy hook, much to the bewilderment of her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, who humorously asked: “Where my drink at, man? I’m too old for this shit.”

GloRilla has previously mentioned a resemblance between herself and Rihanna, even sharing a voicemail from her grandmother who agreed, saying: “I can’t tell them girls apart on TV. That girl look just like your daughter.”

While GloRilla enjoys Rihanna’s support, the same cannot be said for Azealia Banks. The controversial rapper recently criticized Rihanna’s relationship with A$AP Rocky, alleging inappropriate behavior and questioning his sexuality based on his fashion choices. Banks also defended Chris Brown over his infamous 2009 assault on Rihanna, dismissing the backlash as “self-righteous bullshit.”

Despite the drama, Rihanna’s playful interaction with GloRilla highlights her support for emerging artists and her unique sense of humour.
