Rumors Swirl: Nintendo Direct Reportedly Set for July, Promising 2025 Game Reveals

Kyoto, Japan – Speculation is mounting that Nintendo is preparing to host a major Nintendo Direct presentation in July, potentially offering a first look at the company’s 2025 game lineup. Fans have been eagerly awaiting official news, especially after Nintendo notably bypassed this month’s Summer Game Fest.

Nintendo has kept a tight lid on its upcoming first-party releases beyond already announced titles like Mario Kart World (a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2), Donkey Kong Bananza (due out in July), and Metroid Prime 4 (slated for 2025). The absence from recent industry events had fueled expectations for a standalone announcement.

Unconfirmed Details Emerge from Online Source

The latest buzz comes from YouTube personality Wood Hawker, known for his Nintendo-focused channel BeatEmUps and the podcast Nontendo. During a recent episode on June 20, Hawker claimed that a “Nintendo Direct is going to happen next month.” While he did not disclose his source, Hawker shared several unconfirmed details about potential upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Potential Game Reveals Hinted

According to Hawker, fans might see GameCube “shadow-drops,” with Pokémon Colosseum specifically mentioned as a possible immediate release. He noted that Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness is expected later, suggesting a staggered release of classic titles.

Additionally, Hawker’s claims suggest that Metaphor: ReFantazio, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could all be making their way to the Switch 2.

Regarding the overall scope of the rumored Direct, Hawker indicated it would serve to “refresh everybody with what’s coming out for the rest of the year.” This would include the much-anticipated release date for Metroid Prime 4. He also hinted at a “one more thing” segment, potentially a teaser card featuring Isabelle from Animal Crossing, foreshadowing a new Animal Crossing title for 2026.

With Donkey Kong Bananza currently set for a July 17 release, the timing of the rumored Direct could align with reinforcing the latter half of the year’s schedule. Hawker, while sharing the information, did express skepticism, advising that he couldn’t confirm the veracity of all details but wouldn’t be surprised if the claims proved true.

Nintendo has yet to make any official announcement regarding a July Direct. Fans are advised to await confirmation from official Nintendo channels for details on upcoming games and presentations.
