Shallipopi Accuses Dapper Music of Financial Exploitation, Announces Split

Nigerian musician Shallipopi has publicly accused his former record label, Dapper Music, of financial exploitation, weeks after he revealed his departure from the label in November 2024.

In a statement shared on Wednesday, Shallipopi expressed his disappointment over the alleged mishandling of his finances and a breach of trust by the label. He announced that he was officially ending his agreement with both Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital.

“This was not an easy decision, but one I had to make after my trust was broken, my finances mishandled, and my rights as an artist were overlooked,” Shallipopi wrote. “This situation is bigger than just me. It speaks to the struggles of every artist and creator who pours their heart into their craft, only to face betrayal and exploitation from those who should be supporting them.”

The singer further criticised the label for prioritising its own profits over his growth and career, alleging that this had put his dreams at risk. He called for a stand in favour of fairness, integrity, and respect for artists everywhere.
