Simi Reveals the Unlikely Reason She Fell in Love with Adekunle Gold

Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, better known as Simi, has opened up about the unique reason she fell in love with her husband, fellow artist Adekunle Gold. Surprisingly, it wasn’t his music that first captured her heart, but rather his impressive skills in graphic design and Photoshop.

Simi shared this revelation on social media after praising Gold for editing a water bottle out of a photo of Nigerian chess master Tunde Onakoya, following a request from the chess master on X (formerly Twitter). In response to her husband’s work, Simi reposted the edited image and wrote, “This was why I fell for you. I don’t know who sent you to start singing.”

Before his rise to fame in the music industry, Adekunle Gold was well-known as a talented graphic designer and Photoshop expert. His work even led to his involvement with YBNL Nation, Olamide’s record label, for which he designed the logo. It was only later that he transitioned into music, eventually becoming one of Nigeria’s leading Afrobeats artists.

Simi and Adekunle Gold tied the knot on January 9, 2019, in Lagos. The couple welcomed their first child, Adejare, in 2020, further solidifying their bond both personally and professionally.
