Skales Embraces Viral Comeback, Urges Fans to Let Him Enjoy the Moment
Nigerian singer Skales says he is embracing a fresh chapter in his career after his 2014 hit single Shake Body resurfaced in global conversations, thanks to a viral dance by Barcelona’s teenage football star, Lamine Yamal.
The artist, born Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, took to social media to reflect on the unexpected resurgence, expressing gratitude and pleading with fans to allow him savour the moment without drawing comparisons to other artists.
“I feel like my life just restarted again,” Skales wrote on X. “I’m nothing but a learner. Please allow me to enjoy this moment without disrespecting anyone that has achieved way more than me. God is the greatest… let’s grow together y’all.”
The resurgence came after a celebratory video featuring Yamal, alongside Spain internationals Nico Williams and Samu Omorodion, dancing to Shake Body went viral online. The moment followed Barcelona’s dramatic 3–2 win over Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final, which took place at Estadio La Cartuja de Sevilla.
Skales also met Yamal and the teenager’s mother after the match, describing the encounter as another highlight in what he calls a “restart” of his music journey.
As fans continue to rediscover the decade-old track, Skales is using the momentum to inspire growth and positivity in the music space.
