Sony Plans Theatrical Re-release of Spider-Man Movies to Celebrate Columbia Pictures’ 100th Anniversary

As part of its commemoration of Columbia Pictures’ 100th anniversary, Sony has announced the theatrical re-release of several iconic Spider-Man films, treating fans to a nostalgic journey through the web-slinger’s cinematic history.

According to listings from Cinemark, the lineup will feature Sam Raimi’s revered Spider-Man trilogy, the Amazing Spider-Man series, and Tom Holland’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) trilogy. Scheduled to hit theatres in 2024, the screenings will follow the original release order, beginning on April 15th and continuing through June.

The release schedule includes “Spider-Man” (2002) on April 15th; “Spider-Man 2” (2004) on April 22nd; “Spider-Man 3” (2007) on April 29th; “The Amazing Spider-Man” (2012) on May 6th; “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” (2014) on May 13th; “Spider-Man: Homecoming” (2017) on May 20th; “Spider-Man: Far From Home” (2019) on May 27th; and “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) on June 3rd. Notably, there are currently no plans to re-release the animated Spider-Verse films.

Amidst the excitement of revisiting past adventures, fans are also pondering the future of Spider-Man on the big screen. While Tom Holland’s return for another installment is anticipated, discussions with Sony are reportedly ongoing, with Holland emphasizing the importance of a worthy storyline for the beloved character.

In addition to Holland’s potential return, there have been rumblings about a live-action film centered on Miles Morales within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, producer Amy Pascal has indicated that any progress on this front will come after the completion of Holland’s fourth film and the next animated sequel, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.”

With the Spider-Verse expanding and Sony’s commitment to celebrating its cinematic legacy, fans can anticipate more thrilling adventures from their friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in the years to come.
