T-Pain, Kendrick Lamar and Drake

T-Pain Defends Viral Video of Dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss

T-Pain has responded to criticism after a video of him dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track, “Not Like Us,” went viral. The incident took place during a performance in Las Vegas over the weekend, where T-Pain’s dance moves to the popular song quickly became a topic of discussion among fans.

Drake enthusiasts criticized T-Pain for seemingly taking sides in the ongoing beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Addressing the backlash on X (formerly Twitter), T-Pain dismissed the controversy, saying, “Welp! You heard it here first folks. Don’t drunk dance in a robe. Somehow it’s a political statement now. Pls don’t let somebody else’s beef kill y’all’s fun. Let ppl dance PLEASE!! Mustard killed that fuckin beat tho. It’d be pretty weird if you didn’t dance to it.”

In a previous discussion on his Nappy Boy Radio show, T-Pain had expressed his neutrality in the Drake-Kendrick feud, stating, “Drake or Kendrick? I choose to mind my fucking business. It ain’t got nothing to do with me. It ain’t gonna hurt my pockets if I pick one or the other. Don’t give a fuck.”

He elaborated on his stance by emphasizing the need to focus on personal matters rather than celebrity disputes: “It’s cool, like, the sport of rap and stuff is fine but past that? ‘I wonder what Drake did to make everybody so mad.’ Who gives a shit? He ain’t do it to you. Keep moving.”

T-Pain also critiqued the use of AI in music, referring to recent AI-generated songs as subpar and unauthentic compared to original works.

Snoop Dogg has also weighed in on the feud without taking sides, praising both Drake and Kendrick Lamar for elevating lyrical standards in rap. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Snoop said, “Well, the only thing I want to say about that whole scenario is that I want to give both of them a shout out for raising the bar as far as lyrics, as far as song-making and writing because the writing has been upped since the confrontation.”

Snoop continued to commend their influence on the industry: “As far as what they did for the industry and the rap game, they made you rap again. You can’t mumble your way and gimmick your way to a song no more, buddy. So thank y’all.”

Both T-Pain and Snoop Dogg’s remarks highlight the importance of focusing on the positive impact of these artists rather than getting embroiled in their personal conflicts.
