Tag Team Wrestling Legend Jay Briscoe, aka Jamin Pugh, Dead at 38

The world of wrestling mourns the passing of Jamin Pugh, better known by his ring name Jay Briscoe. The wrestler, signed by wrestling promotion ROH (Ring of Honor) since 2022, passed away at 38 years of age.

ROH owner Tony Khan announced the news on Tuesday evening. “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today”, Khan wrote.

A Dominating Force and Hall of Fame Wrestler

The wrestling executive finished his tweet by lauding Briscoe’s accomplishments, and giving his condolences: “Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day. We’ll do whatever we can to support his family. Rest In Peace Jamin”.

Jay Briscoe was a certified Ring of Honor Hall of Famer. He and his brother Mark Briscoe held the ROH World Tag Team Championship 13 times. The Briscoe brothers also held the IWGP World Tag Team Championship, among many other accolades.

Wrestler Jay Briscoe’s Cause of Death: A Car Accident

Briscoe died in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware on Tuesday January 17th. The crash occurred at 5:30pm ET and he was traveling with two other people. One of the passengers also passed away, according to Delaware State Police.

It is also known at this time that one of the passengers required critical pediatric attention.
