Taylor Swift Reportedly Sends Kanye West Legal Threat Over Vulgar Social Media Claims
Taylor Swift is said to have issued a cease and desist letter to Kanye West after the rapper made explicit and unverified claims about her on social media earlier this week.
In a now-deleted outburst posted on April 10, West claimed Swift had been involved in a sexual encounter with fellow pop stars Justin Bieber and Harry Styles – a statement he insisted was “one thousand percent true.” The post sparked immediate backlash online, with fans and commentators calling the remarks inappropriate and damaging.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, Swift’s legal team has responded firmly, describing the rapper’s comments as “false, defamatory, and amounting to sexual harassment.” A source quoted by the outlet said, “This isn’t just Kanye gossiping. This is sexual harassment. It’s defamatory and intended to hurt Taylor and her reputation.”
Neither Styles, Bieber, nor Swift have publicly responded to the claims. However, the Daily Mail alleges that both male artists deny the incident ever occurred. Swift’s current partner, NFL star Travis Kelce, is also reportedly upset and, according to the same source, wants to confront West “man to man.”
As of now, West has not publicly addressed the reported cease and desist or issued a retraction.
This incident marks the latest chapter in a long and rocky history between the two stars, dating back to the infamous 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech. Tensions escalated again in 2016 following West’s controversial lyric in “Famous,” in which he claimed responsibility for Swift’s fame and suggested the two might still sleep together.
In a subtle jab last year, Swift released a special edition of her album The Tortured Poets Department, stylizing one version of the track title to emphasize the letters “Y” and “E” – West’s legal name – which fans interpreted as a veiled dig at the rapper. A previous version capitalized “KIM,” prompting speculation that Swift was also referencing West’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.
With no official statement from either Swift or West as of yet, it remains to be seen whether the situation will escalate into a legal battle – or if this will simply mark another flashpoint in one of pop culture’s most contentious feuds.
