Tiger Woods’ Iconic Nike Outfit May Have Been Worn for the Last Time

Golf enthusiasts who have witnessed Tiger Woods donning Nike gear for the past 27 years may have witnessed an iconic era coming to a close. The golf legend’s enduring partnership with Nike, particularly highlighted by his famous red and black Sunday outfit, faces uncertainty as his current deal with the athletic giant is set to expire at the end of 2023.

Speculation surrounding Woods’ future with Nike surfaced during the PNC Championship on Saturday when doubts were raised about the continuation of his association with the footwear and clothing giants. Responding to inquiries about his current relationship with Nike, Woods stated, “I’m still wearing their product.”

When pressed further about the potential end of the partnership, Woods offered a blunt response, affirming, “I’m still wearing their product.” However, the 47-year-old golf icon was spotted the following day at the championship, clad in his traditional Sunday gear, where he and his son Charlie delivered an impressive performance, finishing T5 with a score of 61 in the scramble.

Notably, unlike previous years, Woods’ 14-year-old son, Charlie, opted for Greyson attire instead of Nike. Tiger Woods has been a Nike ambassador since 1996, signing a landmark deal worth £31.5 million upon turning professional at the age of 20. His current agreement, inked in 2013, is estimated to be valued at around $200 million (£158 million) over ten years.

However, changes in Woods’ equipment and apparel choices have been noticeable since his return from a near-fatal car accident in 2021. The golf legend, known for his association with Nike footwear, has switched to using FootJoy for enhanced comfort. Additionally, Nike ceased golf equipment production in 2016, leading Woods to utilize TaylorMade clubs and Bridgestone balls in recent years.

As Woods has no scheduled appearances for the remainder of 2023, speculations arise about his potential last appearance in Nike attire on the golf course. Many anticipate his return to competitive play at the Genesis Invitational, commencing on February 15, raising questions about the future of this iconic partnership that has left an indelible mark on the world of golf.
