Tony Lanez Ordered to Remain Under House Arrest Until Trial Against Megan Thee Stallion Begins
Embattled rapper Tory Lanez has been placed under house arrest until his trial against Megan Thee Stallion begins on November 28, after she accused him of shooting her in the foot in July 2020.
As reported by Daily Mail, Lanez’ house arrest, however, stemmed from a separate violent incident. Singer August Alsina says Lanez sucker punched him in Chicago last month.
According to Alsina, a New Orleans native, Lanez, 30, and his group of associates confronted him while he was exiting a show and encroached on him physically.
Alsina said that Lanez sucker punched him as he was trying to depart.
‘There was never a “fight”! Simply an Assault,’ Alsina said.
By allegedly assaulting Alsina, prosecutors argued Lanez violated the terms of his bail in the case against Megan Thee Stallion.
They contended that he posed a threat to the public and monetary bail is not enough of a deterrent for him.
No charges were officially filed in the Alsina case, but the judge compromised by ordering him under house arrest with a GPS ankle monitor.
Lanez was smoking marijuana ‘laced with cocaine’ at the time of the assault, according to Alsina, and had the encounter filmed.
The rapper and his entourage swiftly departed in the wake of the run-in, Alsina said, claiming his attacker ‘proceeded to run behind and hide to run back in the building.’
The incident comes after Megan Thee Stallion gave Rolling Stone a tell-all interview over the summer describing what happened between her and Lanez.
Lanez – real name Daystar Peterson – was charged after allegedly shooting at Stallion as she left an SUV vehicle during a drunken argument in the Hollywood Hills on July 12, 2020.
She told the publication: ‘I want him to go to jail. I want him to go under the jail.’
Lanez pleaded not guilty to the felony assault charge as well as felony possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in November 2020.
The pair were rumored to have been dating at the time, but Stallion claimed in her previous op-ed for the New York Times that they were just friends.
In the Rolling Stone piece, Megan said she thought that they had a ‘real connection’ as they bonded over the mutual loss of their mothers.
She explained: ‘I thought he knew me. And I never would’ve thought he would’ve shot at me at all.
