Travis Scott Takes Charge on GQ Red Carpet, Conducts Self-Interview

Travis Scott turned heads at the GQ Men of the Year Awards as he seized control of a red carpet interview, posing questions to himself and providing the answers.

The event, held at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on Wednesday (November 15), saw the 29-year-old rapper taking part in a brief interview with a reporter equipped with flashcards. Instead of responding conventionally, Scott decided to take charge of the conversation.

Reading off the printed prompts, Scott said into the microphone, “‘You wanted to turn UTOPIA into a musical — is there a plan for a Broadway show yet?’ Fuck yeah, it is.”

Continuing the unique interview style, he addressed another question: “‘You said you wanted to study architecture at Harvard — which city’s architecture inspires you the most?'”

“Not gonna lie, Tokyo is kind of fire … Rome is fire … Pompeii is actually amazing … Chile is actually crazy […] Brazil is actually fucking beautiful,” he responded.

This spontaneous interview moment follows recent revelations from Travis Scott about the creative process behind his latest album, UTOPIA. In an interview with GQ, he expressed his initial intention to turn the album into a play, envisioning Broadway-style performances in larger venues like stadiums or arenas.

Scott shared that he even collaborated with playwright Jeremy O. Harris to explore the possibilities of bringing a Broadway-like experience to a broader audience. The rapper expressed admiration for Harris and their discussions about making the ambitious concept a reality.
