Tyrese Mourns Death of His ‘Beloved Angel of a Big Sister’
Singer and actor Tyrese Gibson has shared the heartbreaking news of his sister’s passing. Taking to his Instagram on Thursday (October 5), he revealed the loss of his beloved big sister, Shonta Gibson.
In a heartfelt post, Tyrese expressed his deep sadness at losing another loved one in a short span of time. He wrote, “I can’t believe I am about to post these 3 letters again…. RIP to my beloved Angel of a big sister Shonta Gibson… My heart is so heavy posting this because sadly, I’ve lost so many people over the years in this very short window of time.”
He continued, “I’m really in a place where I’m just numb and I’ve found that I’ve become even more selfless and more concerned about everyone else and their needs over mine.”
Tyrese also shared the impact of Shonta’s passing on his nieces, Star and Tanisha, who lost not only their mother but also their “best friend, biggest inspiration, and day-to-day support system.” He praised Shonta for raising them into strong individuals and expressed his love for her.
In April 2022, Tyrese had previously opened up about his struggles with multiple deaths and personal challenges, including the loss of his Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker, director John Singleton, songwriter LaShawn Daniels, and his mother. He also mentioned the emotional toll of his ongoing divorce from Samantha Lee.
Tyrese’s heartfelt message reflects the pain of losing a family member and the emotional challenges he has faced in recent years.
