Upgraded ChatGPT Teaches Maths and Flirts – But Still Glitches
OpenAI has introduced its latest iteration of the ChatGPT AI chatbot, named GPT-4o, promising enhanced capabilities and a more engaging conversational experience for users.
Unlike previous models, GPT-4o will be available to all users, including non-subscribers, boasting faster processing speeds and a chattier demeanour, sometimes even flirting in its responses.
The upgraded version incorporates advanced features such as image reading and discussion, language translation, emotion recognition from visual cues, and memory recall of previous interactions, providing a more comprehensive and interactive experience.
During a live demonstration, GPT-4o showcased its ability to offer suggestions for solving equations, analyze computer code, translate languages, and interpret emotions from images. Despite some glitches, including mistaking objects and preemptively solving equations, the demonstration highlighted the potential of the technology.
While OpenAI aims to position GPT-4o as the next generation of AI digital assistants, rivalling Siri and Google Assistant, concerns about its environmental impact linger, as AI technology is known to be energy-intensive.
OpenAI’s demonstration of GPT-4o underscores the company’s commitment to advancing conversational AI, setting the stage for potential partnerships and competition with tech giants like Apple and Google.
