‘Wigs, Human Hair Diabolical, Carry Bad Luck’ – Singer Natalie Okri
British singer Natalie Okri has expressed concerns over the origins of human hair wigs, claiming that some of them are linked to spiritual rituals and could bring misfortune to those who wear them.
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the former Britain’s Got Talent star explained that she stopped wearing wigs after learning about the practices associated with hair sacrifices in certain parts of Asia. According to her, some women in these regions donate their hair at temples as a form of spiritual cleansing, believing it will rid them of bad luck and poverty.
Okri alleged that the sacrificed hair is then collected and sold to major vendors, eventually making its way to the international market, where many black women purchase it without knowing its origins.
“We are unknowingly wearing someone else’s bad luck,” she stated, adding that, as a Christian, she views these practices as being in conflict with her beliefs.
Her remarks have sparked discussions online, with some agreeing with her concerns while others dismissed them as mere superstition.
