Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Kush & Orange Juice 2’ Reportedly Dropping in April

Wiz Khalifa’s highly anticipated sequel to his 2010 mixtape, Kush & Orange Juice, appears to have a release date. According to a post from the NFR Podcast, Kush & Orange Juice 2 is expected to drop on April 18, just days after the 15th anniversary of the original project.

While the rapper has yet to confirm the date himself, the report has sparked excitement and scepticism among fans. The post also featured artwork that Wiz previously shared when discussing the album last year, though it remains unclear whether it will serve as the official cover.

A Long-Awaited Sequel

Wiz first announced that Kush & Orange Juice 2 was finished nearly a year ago. In March 2024, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to share an update, writing: “Kush and OJ 2 is done and going into mixing. Thank you to everyone involved. Taylor Gang The World.”

Producer Cardo, who worked on the original tape, confirmed his involvement in the sequel, adding to the anticipation. The project will also feature contributions from hip-hop legends DJ Quik and Juicy J, along with longtime collaborators Ty Dolla $ign and Problem (Jason Martin).

Fan Expectations and Reactions

While many fans are excited about the follow-up to one of Wiz’s most beloved projects, some have expressed concern about whether the sequel can live up to its predecessor. Reactions online ranged from excitement to scepticism, with one fan warning: “Don’t you dare ruin Kush & OJ’s legacy.” Another called it a “high risk, high reward” move.

Despite the mixed reactions, industry figures like Lyrical Lemonade’s Cole Bennett have shown their support. “Can’t wait,” he wrote. “Kush & OJ is one of my favourite projects of all time.”

A Mixtape That Defined an Era

Originally released on April 14, 2010, Kush & Orange Juice played a crucial role in launching Wiz Khalifa’s career, blending smooth, laid-back production with weed-centric themes that resonated with fans. The mixtape also helped establish key industry relationships, featuring artists like Curren$y and Big K.R.I.T., who would go on to collaborate with Wiz for years.

Reflecting on the impact of their song “Glass House” from the mixtape, Big K.R.I.T. shared in 2020: “That was my first introduction to a lot of [Wiz’s] fan base. It’s been crazy since then—between going on tour and performing it every time we hit the stage together.”

As the reported release date for Kush & Orange Juice 2 approaches, fans are eager to see if Wiz Khalifa can recapture the magic of the original tape or if the sequel will struggle under the weight of expectations.
